Transcode 360 for Windows Vista allows you to stream videos to the XBOX 360. I have been using this application for quite a long time now, and I only have good things to say about it. This application allows users of Windows Vista to stream videos of any format supported by your computer to the XBOX 360. This application had a lot more use when the XBOX 360 didn't support XVID, but still nowadays I use it. The application install on your computer and communicates with the XBOX 360 via Windows Media Center. After all is set up, you can turn on your XBOX 360 and find a video file that you want to play. Select it and hit the X button to open up a menu that says More. Then hit the A button and a dialog will appear asking you if you want to transcode the file. Hit A again. After a few seconds the file will start playing. The speed in which the file is transcoded depends largely on the speed of your computer and the connection between the console and the PC. Some users have found that the video skis ahead or ends unexpectedly. A good solution for this is to pause the video when it starts for a minute or so, to give the computer some ahead time to convert and transmit the video. This application also supports Vobsub, so you can use your subtitles with your media files, just make sure the names match. All in all, this is a perfectly designed application that enlightened the old days of media playback on the XBOX 360. Just make sure you download version 1.6 or newer.
